In 2015, the Early Childhood Community Development Centre (ECCDC) initiated an innovative partnership with Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds and the Niagara Region Children's Services to bring naturalized playgrounds to Niagara.
This partnership provided 20 childcare programs with a discount on the design consultation and technical construction plan for ECCDC group members, including our Early Learning Centre.
Additionally, the ECCDC provided customized training for our EarlyON Centre staff and guidance in the selection of resources and naturalized play based learning materials to spark young children’s curiosity and learning.
Bethlehem Place was one of four original pilot project sites, which has now expanded to 26 sites that are now moving forward with naturalized playgrounds in Niagara.
